The Decluttering and Organising Process

How it Works

There are three key stages to the process:

1. Initial Phone call

We will introduce ourselves to each other, talk about your situation, why you’ve chosen to contact a Professional Organiser and what you hope to achieve as an end goal. Getting in contact with me is probably the hardest part of the process, once we’ve spoken I hope you’ll feel reassured and ready to get going.

2. Meeting At your Home / Property

The Decluttering and Organising ProcessMapping
Whether you’ve called me to sort out your wardrobe or declutter an entire house, we’ll need to first identify your priorities.  We’ll talk about which area(s) are causing you the most concern, how we’ll tackle these areas and roughly how long it might take. You’ll know what to expect from the very beginning.

Sorting
This is the bulk of the work;  putting everything together ready to make decisions. What to keep, and what to let go of. It will start slowly, but you’ll see it becomes easier and faster as we move forward.

Removing
Eventually we’ll find ourselves with a ‘Letting go’ pile. I can advise you as you decide what to donate, what to bin, what to recycle. We may even find a couple of items worth selling.

Placing
With my guidance, we’ll find an intuitive, easy to reach home for everything you’ve decided to keep. This is the ’secret’ of maintaining an organised home; it’ll make it easy to tidy up in the future. The last – but very important stage – will be to come up with clever, aesthetic storage for your belongings so you can easily find them, use them, and put them back whenever you need them.

3. A Sense of Achievement

Surveying our accomplishment and appreciating the difference it has made! We can talk about whether more work is needed, how you will keep this newly-gained order in place, and how to move forward.
